21-Day-Fast Devotional - Day 20: Rest

Rest

written by Ana Peña-Suquilanda

“For anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.”

Hebrews 4:10 NIV

I was reminded today of how hectic life can get and how far we can drift from true rest. Sure, we sleep each night, take breaks and go on vacations but is this truly RESTING? We can do all the self-care strategies and still not find that constant and peaceful rest. The kind of rest that comes from God. The one that fills you up with peace in the midst of a heavy work day. The rest that brings joy in the most painful moments of your life. God’s Rest comes with the assurance that even the struggles can be turned into victories. This everlasting rest is available and given freely to all who enter it. I encourage you to take a moment and give all that the days bring to Him who wants to give you rest.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What do you think it means to enter into this type of rest, the rest spoken of in Hebrews 4:10?

  2. Can you recall the last time you felt that you had this type of rest?

Prayer for today: Lord, we thank you and honor you today! We pray that you would show us the way that we could enter into this type of rest. That we would draw near to you God and as we do we would feel the everlasting rest that only you can provide. We pray Lord, that your hand would keep us, guide us, provide for us, and steady us in your amazing embrace where true resting resides.
